    Hello Confused:

Would you be talking about unemployment compensation??

If so, I believe it's been extended. If not, tell up, please.

Yes I was referring to unemployment. I know that there are 33 additional weeks in place but would like to know if there is going to be anything beyond that.

The bill extends to December 31, 2009, the date by which an individual must exhaust his regular unemployment benefits in order to qualify for extended unemployment benefits. The original ending date was March 31, 2009. Extended benefits continue for 20 weeks plus an additional 13 weeks in high unemployment areas.

Unemployment benefits will temporarily increase by $25 per week and suspension of federal tax on the first $2,400 of unemployment benefits received in 2009 .

For workers laid off between Sept. 1, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2009, the government will subsidize 65% of your premiums under COBRA for up to 9 months.
And, for those laid off between Sept.1, 2008 and Feb. 16, 2009 (the day the bucket list was signed into law), who did NOT sign up for COBRA, will receive an additional 60 days to do so and receive the 65% subsidy.

So I guess based on that information anyone who is collecting emergency benefits and uses up the 33 weeks will continue collecting until the end of the year?

So when's the $25 a week extra supposed to kick in and for how long is this supposed to last?

It may take a few weeks for the state unemployment offices to reprogram their software programs and add the extra money but the answer is immediately .

Can't tell you when the temporary increase ends. I expect it is just like every other "temporary "spending increase. It'll never go away. The only thing the government holds as temprorary is tax cuts.

    And, reductions in spending.
