Hi new to this site and here is my question. In 2002 I got hurt at work Because of this injury I lost my job and pension . I have sears card that has not been used in the last 36 months.For 4 years have been getting calls from a collection company have not answered any calls till yesterday.They told me I own 4,000 dollars and want it by feb.25 I get Canada pension disability and that is 996.00 What should I do I told them I,am disabled and cannot work they still want money sorry this is so long I need help please all other lenders forgave there debt except for this one

I a payment plan an option. Debt collectors will usually work with anything in order to get their money. They are just going to try to scare you every time you talk to them. Just be firm and don't fret. They will work with a payment plan.

First you need to check on thr Statute of Limitation for debt in your province. Next you need to check whether your disability pension is exempt from garnishment for unsecured debt.

By the way, you should NEVER avoid a bill collector. That only makes them less receptive to your situation.

Thank you but after revue canada takes there money I have 168 dollars left for the month so things are really tight

Thank you this helps a lot after reading the staute here is 2 years and my penison cannot be garnished and have talked to them 2 times thanks again for the advice it was very helpful
