After checking my credit report I became aware of judgement for a repossessed car. The car was leased. The car company representative had me under the impression that if I voluntarily surrendered the car I would not be sued I have this recorded. I was never notified of the court case.

Go back to the court that issued the judgement and file a motion to vacate for improper service. They will reser ve you, but you can get a hearing where you present your evidence.
