Do a load test on the battery; extra strain could be dragging the vehicle down. If the battery is weak, it's not going to hold up under pressure. Let us know if you find anything out.
It is possible that the power steering pump is not working properly and is causing extra load on the engine at essentially idle speed when making turns.
See, when I read this I immediately thought of a fuel problem. If the pickup tube is broken off or damaged or plugged the fuel sloshing around in the tank could be starving the engine.
I have a 2000 cougar that does the same thing only on left hand turns and only when I have a half tank or less left. I took it in to the shop so many times and every time they said it was something different fuel pump the filter the fuel line etc. Still isn't fixed I kind of learned to live with it.
I don't know that the OP's problem is fuel-related; I could see if they were taking fast turns causing the fuel to slosh around but they said the problem happens at slow speeds.
