    How can my husband adopt?
I live in Mississippi and I have a 6 year old son. His dad and I slplit when he was 2. he has done nothing for him since we split. He is a dead beat dad. He has not paid a dime on child support and is almost 4 years behind. He is in and out of jail. I have been married to my husband now for almost three years. My husband would like to adopt my son, but I know his bio father would not sign over his rights. Is there a way that my husband can adopt him without him signing over his rights?

    Nope.

He MUST either sign over his rights, or have them terminated by the state.

    You will need a lawyer.

How do you know he won't sign off? Have you asked? Sometimes when they learn they are no longer liable for child support, and that back child support can be cleared, they sign the paper. Get a family lawyer.

If you know his address or phone number to even ask him, your child support office better know it too. The more they turn up the heat to collect, the more likely he is to sign off.
