Is it oilfired or gas? How long does it run? Is the Primary relay reset kicking out?

Clean the flame sensor (if so equipped). Look for a ceramic-insulated steel rod with a single wire, usually attached to the burner assembly at the opposite end from the ignitor. Remove it and clean with abrasive cloth or steel wool.

I have a similar problem as csavagel. My gas furnace ignites but the flames go out from time to time. I have tried cleaning the burnings and this solves the problem for a day or so. The heating element seems to be working once I turn the furnace switch off for about 20minutes and the flames ignite, but sometime goes out after 3 or so seconds. Thank you in advance.

I was just trying to help the coldman he was having problems with his furnace. There was a little missing info on his post for a good reply.

Jasper62 Check to see if the flu is clear and there is good draft. There can be a few things that make the flame go out ,highlimit flame roll out switchs will shut it down, weak gas pressure/dirty orfices. For a better answer from me I would need more info on the unit you have and how it is installed with gas info/natural?propane?directvent?powervent?Brand and BTU size of your unit. Ect... This site is fun and great info for me. I enjoy reading these posts and trying to help. Good Luck
