My passport is expired and have only recently noticed. I have seen in a few blogs and chats that german passport holders can sometimes travel under expired status, provided it has been expired less than a year. Can you help?

The only condition is you lost your passport or it expired and you have an emergency travel back to your home country, in this case you can contact the consulate and request for a travel document. It will be good for one way trip and only to return to your home country only.
