Does creatine level dictate which diabetic medication is used?
I asked our diabetic doctor about using Metformin because it was a Walmart $4 medication. He immediately said no because the creatine level is too high. Does the creatine level determine which diabetic medication to take and if that is true, is there a chart that will help me know which medicaiton is really correct? Right now my mother takes all the expensive meds which puts her into the Medicaid donut hole pretty quick.

Creatinine measures kidney function. You'd have to look at the Physician's Prescribing info for each drug.

Metformin can't be used with some contrast dyes and it takes a bit getting used to gastrointestinal wise. You have to start very very slow.

It would not surprise me if metformin was not indicated for those with poor kidney function. As part of my sick plan, I dump it and most oral diabetic meds when I'm sick and just use insulin only.
