Tx refund on OPT and H1B
    Hello,
I worked on OPT from Jan 2008 till sept 2008 and then on H1 from October 2008 till dec 2008. My total wages on OPT are about $47,000 and on H1 about $22,000. I had a few questions regarding filing for tax returns -
    1) Which all forms do I need to fill up to file for tax returns?
    2) Approximately how much should I be getting back in returns?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Which year you got your F1 visa?
    Are you married or not?
Which return did you file in 2007?

    Rohana:
For 2008 you will file just as you did in 2007.

Thanks Mukta. But I still had one question, my H1 started on Oct 2008. So what should I enter the visa status block. Also do I need to fill 2 forms of 1040NR-EZ for my H1 and F1?

You enter your visa status as of 31 Dec 08 for Page 2 of 1040NR-EZ, which would be H-1.

On the top of Page 1 of 1040NR-EZ, enter your ENTRY visa, which would be F-1.
