I instsalled a Watts premiere REverse Osmosis system from Costco... it's a model WP4V and I'm having a heck of a time getting it to work.

Water flows continually. I drained some air from the tank and now it will fill up, about 4 cups of water comes out after it has been running for 6 + hours. But it seems to me it should be producing at least 2 gallons? I can't find anything on their website that states how much water the tank should hold.

Anyhow, it continues to gurgle continuously... and the website is not much help

You need to check the pressure of the tank. Turn off the water completely then empty all the water you can our of the tank. Check the PSI it should be 7-8 PSI when it is empty. Add pressure to it if it needs. Next turn on the system once again and let the tank fill up. When the tank is full it should have between 43-47 PSI

Reverse Osmosis systems function totally on pressure. In the reserve tank there is a bladder that has constant pressure on it. Once that fills up to a certain pressure (45-47 PSI) it pushes back on the supply and basically flips the switch so that no more water goes through the RO System. If water keeps going down the drain, that means that is just not enough pressure built up to let the System know to stop.

Make sure you don't have any leaks in any of the canisters or going up to the sink. That could be bad as well

New R.O. systems take about 24 hours before they produce first full tank of filtrated water. During this initial period, system will run continuously.

R.O. systems are "green" unfriendly systems. They use 24 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of filtrated water. So, in the future, you will hear running water quite often. This is the main reason why many of my customers switched to Everpure H300 filtration system.

However, if the drain run off is installed properly, you should not be hearing water entering the drain.

Hi, first off make sure that when your tank is empty the air pressure is 7-10 psi. If it is below this number, you can take your tank to any gas station and fill her up. Your tank is not getting filled up because of one of three reasons. The first and most probable reason is that your inlet home water pressure is low. You should have minimum of 45 psi home inlet water pressure. The second (and second most probable reason) is that your flow restrictor (installed on your waste water line) has malfunctioned and it is producing too much waste water (and thus too little product water). The third (and least probable reason) is that you have not installed your membrane properly. There could be leakage of inlet water directly to your waste water line, this would cause the flow to never cease and the production of little to no product water. Air pressures had been checked and was at 7-10 psi. After water constantly running for days - checked and found the tank was quite full, turned off incoming water - a few hours later without using any water, the tank emptied by itself. Anyone has a resolution for this?

R/O's use 7 gallons of water to make 1 gallon of pure water. Nothing more. You can run the waste water into a tank and use it to water plants etc. No waste.

Please, in the future, give out the correct information.

I have installed the same system but my problem is that I can get only half cup of water from the tank before I see just drips from faucet. I guess that there is no pressure in the tank and I have seen that someone recommended to check is there 5-7 PSI but problem is that I do not have gauge to check it and I do not know where to find suitable one. Any help from experts? Thaks in advance.

Tire pressure gauge will work. Get them almost anywhere. Home RO s are not typically a worthwhile investment for average city water. Get the city water annual report and read it. A good whole house filter works just as well and is cheaper with a lot less problems and water usage and you still need to buy filters for an RO. On a well system maybe.

At the risk of beating this to death -- I installed the same system; same problem. Water runs constantly. Even installed a specialized pump recommended by their help desk that was supposed dramatically improve performance and reduce waste water. Still runs constantly. Help desk had me check the flow restrictor in the brine line to the drain. It was there, but I replaced it just in case. Still runs constantly. Check pressure when empty. 7psi, as required. Checked pressure when "full" (all this with the help desk on the phone). 30 PSI. This clearly was too low, and therefor the system keeps running and trying to fill the tank. The help desk had me increase the pressure in the tank while water was in it to the 45 PSI that should shut down production. It worked! Until I poured myself a glass of water and then it proceeded to run all night and all day.

As a final attempt to get this thing to work, I took the whole system back to Costco and bought a new one. I installed it and had the same problem. I went through all the same checks to trouble-shoot the new one and it still runs constantly. If anyone has a clue on what I might try to do to fix it, please, share your wisdom!

I again like all the people above bought this thing from costco (which I am totally regreting) because it won't shut up!

Ive checked my water pressure, checked the tank pressure, checked everything. Why does this thing keep running for hours!

Considering the continued issues that people seem to have with home RO's, return the unit and get a good filter.
