3 outlets in the kitchen are not working while a couple of outlets are working. Somebody told us to hit the Reset button on one of the outlets downstairs but that did not work.

Have you checked the main circuit breaker yet?

If none are tripped, then you will need to trace the circuit and find where your loose your voltage.

Could be a loose connection in a wiring box, wire nut, daisy chained outlet.

Should be corrected ASAP, loose connections can generate heat, which leads to a fire hazard.

Since your outlets are in the kitchen check one of two things.

Your plugs might be GFCI protected. These are the plugs with the buttons on them. They are supposed to be in all kitchens, bathrooms, and garages now.

Also, you might check and see if you have a GFCI protected breaker in your panel that might be tripped.

Can you tell us exactly where the failing outlets are located?

Are they above counter tops or under the counters? Are they inside cabinets?

That information will give us some idea as to what type circuit we are looking at.

Pat's advice above directed at counter top receptacle which are supposed to be on 20 Amp breakers and GFCI protected.

True Don, we need more information. He might live in an old house where none of this applies, just ordianary two prong 15 amp outlets on braided wire.
