I lost 2 outlets last night that are now dead, but did not pop the breaker
I replaced them, and bought a tester that indicated hot neutral or hot ground but I am sure I reconnected the wires as they were (had no problems for years before) any suggestions?

What colors are your wires and how many?

One has 3 black wires going in to one, a red and two whites
The other has one black and one white

So aparently no ground wire. Your black wires should be the 120v hot wire, can you ground to the box or is it not metal?
