    Use of different wire gauge?
Can 14 gauge wire be used in the same outlet box as 12 gauge wire

If a circuit is protected with a 20 amp fuse, everything in the circuit must be 12 gauge or larger (larger wire, not larger gauge).

If a circuit is protected with a 15 amp fuse, you can use 12-gauge and 14-gauge wire in the circuit, but I'm not sure why you'd do that unless it was old wiring.

You can put the two wire gauges in the same box, but only as mentioned, above.
