Engine misfire when stopped while in gear.
I own a 2002 Mazda Protege', 4 cylinder, 2.0 liter engine with 47k miles. I purchased it new. Within the past 2 weeks I have noticed that when I am stopped at a light /stop sign with the car in gear there is a very slight miss in the engine idle and the car feels like it wants to stall out but doesn't. Once the vehicle is moving the engine runs smooth. I have not yet had the plugs, ignition wires or coil replaced. This only happens when the car is in drive. In neutral, the engine misfire does not occur. Could the cause of this be a dirty fuel injector? If so, would emptying a couple of cans of concentrated fuel injector cleaner in the tank possibly solve this problem or is that wishful thinking?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JIMBO

Replace the spark plugs with the exact plugs that came in the car. Replace platinum plugs at least every 50,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. Leaving them in longer increases the risk of seizure.
