The car is firing fine, why change the igniter?

Because it may not be firing at the right time, which you do not know. It shouldn't take this long to solve this problem--there's not that much to these cars. Ignitors, coils, and distributors should be replaced on Civics with the age and miles you have on your car. Good luck.
