My 16year old Lhasa was diagnosed with mammary cancer in 2005 she has an open wound on her stomach that won't heal and is getting bigger, she doesn't seem to be in pain but she sleeps all the time This is killing me I know that she is "just a dog" but I love her so she has been a loyal friend I dread putting her down to early and my husband won't help me in making this decision I don't want to extend her life selfishly.Any advise?

If she is sleeping all the time then her body is compensating for the cancer. She will eventually just sleep away, but I wouldn't wait that long. It's a shame your hubby won't help you with this decision, that is kind of cowardly.

She needs you to be strong now for her and the best think is to make it swift.

I have been in a similar place she is not just a dog she is a family member. You must make the decision for her as she cannot tell you what she wants. You will know when it is time. Are you keeping her here for her or you?
There are many dog lovers on this site and will support you in whatever you choose to do.
