    dark wax due ear infection
Hello to all of you out there!:)
I have a 11 y.o. maltese who has been suffering from an ear infection from years, always manageable.
Last x-mas he was boarded and return home with a bad ear infection producing a dark colored wax (bad smelling too).
The vet recommended Otomax, which has produced some results, but as soon as I stop the treatment the infection and wax return.
Could it be some other thing?

Piece of information, I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but he got back home with tears stains, paws, mustache and where he can lick is stained (same color as tear stains).
    Can it be related?

    Thank You
    Paula:)

I am not a vet, but I have a 2yr old labrador. He was having the same thing happening to him. I would clean his ears religiously at first with just a cottonswab and out would come, brwn, thick wax. His ears were red and it was a very rancid smell. I took him to the vet, was prescribed otomax and it still didn't work. He ended up having surgery on his ear because it developed into a hematoma. I would talk toyur vet again and tell them that the otomax isn't working
