She said ONE child, but I was making a fact that you can claim two kids,IF you have two kids!

I've done it,and was told ONLY two kids per household taxes.

Yes, as long as the child was born before the clock strike 12 am 1/1/09, you can claim your child for that tax yezr.

My son was born 12/06/08 and my fiancé claimed him with no problem.

I had an accountant friend who had four kids, all born in December by design. So he could get the advantage of the deduction without having the expenses for the kid for the whole year.

One day maybe Congress will plug this loophole and only allow a pro-rated deduction.

    Scott:

WHY BOTHER? The personal exemption is only $3,500 in 2008. That is LESS than chicken feed for a government that is now spend TRILLIONS each year!
