Can a salary employee be forced to cover all call offs
I am an assistant director of nursing working in Pennsylvania. I am being forced by the Director of nursing to work overtime to cover call offs of RNs LPNs and CNAs because we have a staffing shortage. I am the only salary employee being made to cover these shortages. The other salaries RNs ( the RNAC and the DON ) are not required to cover these shortages. Can she dictate these hours to me and only me especially when she is not willing to cover them

    Hello P:

Salary works two ways... I'm sure she can require you to cover these shifts, as long as you get paid for an afternoon that YOU had to take off, or if they pay you even if you're a little late one morning.

If it only works to THEIR advantage, then you should be hourly and you should SUE them for ALL your back OVERTIME pay.

Yes they can, unless they are picking you to do this because of a discrimination factor, ( protected class)

Have you asked HR or your supervisor why you are the only one doing this ?
