    Miff Deficiency Judgments
Looking for any way to fight this judgment, judgment obtained back in 1996.
I was not aware of this judgment until 2006, there now obtaining my GST & Tax returnes, for the last 4 years. This situation is just killing me.
    Thank you BP

    Hello a:

Some judgments last 10 years. Others last for 8. Some are renewable. Some aren't.

I'd check with the court that issued the judgment and see if it expired or if they renewed it.

If NOT, then write them a certified letter telling them to go away, or you'll SUE them BIGTIME.

Were you not aware of the debt ?
Were you not served papers showing a court date ?

Check with the court that issued the judgement to see how you were served.

I see this happen when people often hide from bill collectors refuse certified letters and the such. They were being sent notices of court dates but would not open or receive their letters.

Also your last four years? Those would be received unless you did not file for 4 years? Please explain

You might get the judgement vacated due to improper service, but I doubt it. If you did, they would just serve you before you leave the courthouse.

Unless you think the debt is invalid, I would just try to offer a settlement.
