We Have 15 1\2 Year Old Terrier , Colly Cross, She Has Athritis And Has Briefly Been On Metacam.a Week Or So Ago Another Dog Knocked Her Over And Hurt One Of Her Legs.we Took Her To The Vets And I Was Told There Was No Major Damage.3 - 4 Days Ago She Stopped Eating And We Took Her Back To The Vets We She Had Another Checkup, We Were Told That All Her Major Organs Checked Ouut Ok.she Still Will Not Eat Chicken , Ham And Everything Else We Have Tried.she Has Eaten Little Bits Of Food,we Have Coninued Trying Because She Needs Food In Her Belly So She Can Take The Steroid Tablets. Her Mobility Has Creatly Improved, But Her Appetite Is Very Poor.im Wondering Whether This Is Common For Age And This Is Now The Norm.one Thing We Noticed Was That Her Faecies Were Orange.around The House Though She Drinks Water Normally And Does Not Soil In The House And Asks To Go Out.im Wandering Whether She Is Having Enough Food At This Rate She's Around 14kg A Present ,is It Possibly Psycologigical Rather Than Physical

Molly has been diagnosed as having acute renal failure with less than 10% chance of survival.she will now be joining her sister tara and brother q in the big playfield in the sky.she was my first little baby and the tears are running down my face as I'm typing this.sh was the best , I love you molly forever.goodbye babes

Acute Renal Failure does have symptoms of less of an appitite, but this does not sound like Acute Renal Failure to me. Acute Renal Failure is when you kidneys shut down. Some symptoms are less urination or no urination and bloody stools. If your dog is not eating, you keep letting it out, and it still drinks water, it is most likely urinating when you let it out. And it sounds like your dogs stools aren't bleeding, but more like it ate something it shouldn't have.

And if the vet said that there was no major damage, why is the dog taking steroids? Personally, I think there is something fishy about that vet. I think you should see another vet to get a second opinion.

The blood tests came back with all the indicators of renal failure and apparently it has been gong on for a few months.my wife said that the dog has had blood in her stools earlier this week .the vet said that she could have tried a drip and medication, but because she's on steroids for her acute athritis and the fact that she was 15 last April the chances for a succes were slim, maybe an extra 4 to 8 weeks.for a dog who loved to run and play, this really was not fair to her,even though it was one of the hardest decisions of my life.this was for her,not us.our experience with this vet has been excellent during the last 10yrs, so I trust their findings
