    Theft over $5000.00
    Good Morning,

I have been charged with theft over $5000.00 from a volunteer organization. The amount they are talking about is about $40,000.00 I have no criminal record, but a mental health history from childhood and adult sexual abuse. I do not want the childhood abuse to come out in a courtroom Mostly because of my parents. They are in their 80's and have no knowledge of this. If I plead guilty and arrange for any restitution, can this be kept out of court.
    Thank you for your help.

If you want to stay out of prison your Attorney will use a possible mental health defense. If the Attorney doesn't use it you have a good chance of doing prison time.

There is no way to know what the Court will decide. When you steal from an employer the Courts are not kind; when it's from a not-for-profit the Courts are really not understanding.

Which would you parents rather face - you in prison or the truth coming out?

(I trust you have a VERY GOOD Attorney and still have the money so you can pay the organization back.)
