    House with well, no water,
You guys have helped me in the past with low water pressure issue. I would appreciate your input on a new problem.
My house is 8 yrs old and 18 months ago our 1/2hp well pump died. Changed it and put in a 3/4hp pump. Today I have no water, there is electricity at the pressure switch, pressure tank is is at 0 psi, empty. I hate to think the pump junked less than 2 years.

Well is 325 feet, its winter in RI and we have snow and meltage. I watched the installation on the new pump and the wires were secure to pump and nylon sleeves in well pipe. Could the switch be bypassed to check if n.g. or is there a way to test it? Or is there something I'm missing? Thanks

Two possibilities: Turn off the power, then check the switch points to make sure they are:

    1. Closed as they should be.
    2. Not burned.

You can bypass the switch by simply turning off the power and connecting the wires directly. However, if the points are clean and closed, then that would indicate problems further down the line. Do you have a control box after the switch, or do the wires simply go directly down to the pump from the switch?

BTW, while I appreciate the positive comment, you really should use the "reply" option as that causes a new post which shows up on the board. It alerts everyone and puts your problem back on the "front burner".

Hopefully this is were I reply to you answer.
Turns out when the pump was installed 18month ago, they must have bound up the wire while feeding it down the well and over time, the torque of the pump made the wire ground out. Thank you for you help.
