    3 variable, algebra
    Bill's restaurant ordered 200 flowers for Mother's Day. They ordered carnations at $1.50 each, roses at $5.75 each, and daisies at $2.60 each. They ordered mostly carnations, and 20 fewer roses than caises. The total order came to $589.50. How many of each type of flower was ordered?

    We won't just do your homework for you. Try to solve this on your own, show us how far you get before you get stuck, and then someone will help you out.

    Suggestion: start by seeing if you can write 3 equations that capture the facts you've been given.

    Start here:

    C = Number of carnations
    R = Number of roses
    D = Number of daisies

    You have three unknowns, so you need three independent equations.
