    Printing from wireless laptop
How to print using 1 cable internet router, and 2 wireless computers that are not directly hooked up to the router. The desktop computer has wireless internet and is hooked up by usb to the printer and able to print. The laptop has wireless internet, but unable to print. I thought about connecting the printer somehow to the router but they are for one in different rooms and another the printer only has phone connections when we have cable internet hooked up.

You must connect the computer with the printer to the router and *share* a printer in order for the wireless laptop to print. It doesn't matter if the computer is connected via a wireless connection or through a hardwire connection.

You could connect the printer to the router, IF the printer were a NETWORK PRINTER (if it contains the internal hardware to allow it to act like it's its own computer -- to get an IP address, etc).

The printer is a Kodak 5500, I don't know a lot about it or how to connect stuff. I have set the printer to share, but if you say it shouldn't matter if the computer is hardwired to the router, I don't know what is wrong then. Should I reinstall the printer as a network printer or what?

You'll need to share the printer on the desktop. As long as all the other computers are on the same Workgroup they should see the printer and use it.

You also need to make sure the firewall isn't blocking access.

The printer, itself, is pretty much irrelevant.

Do you know someone who is more technically adept at connecting things like this, that you can call to help. I'm sure that some of the words and phrases we use are difficult to understand, but it's how we communicate.
