I work for united parcel service in New Jersey, but live in New York I just had my taxes done by h&r block, and they said I can tell my employer to stop taking out New Jersey taxes because I end up owing New York. I want to know is that true if I can tell them to stop taking out New Jersey taxes. Thank you.

You must pay NJ taxes. Hope you have not already filed NY tax return.

You will also report same income on NY tax return. You will claim credit for taxes paid to NJ.

If you are present in a state, then any income earned during this period, must be reported to the state.
