We have a Sony LCD TV. We had a DVD player that broke so we bought a new one.
We tried to hook it up but what we get is only the sound from the DVD. No picture comes on. We here everything as if it is running but again no picture.
What are we missing?

Do you have the TV on the right channel? I get sound but no picture if my TV is not on the right channel...

Or, did you push something on your remote that has messed with the player?

Are the cords (all three) fully connected to their sources? Yellow, white, red? (Assuming your tv/player look like mine, that is!)

Yes we put the TV to DVD.
Remote is OK
Hook up is OK

Maybe a little more info - we can hook the old DVD player back up (it would have a problem with the DVD sticking) and the sound and picture come on.

When we take if out and hook up the new DVD player we get no picture. I'm not sure if it needs to be hooked up differently or a different port or what vs the old player

Even brand new electronics can be defective, if you are using the same cables to hook up the old dvd player (that gives sound and picture) and the new one and are sure all connections are correct and your on the right channel / input then the only thing left is that the new DVD player is faulty.
