    Hello l:

It depends on the rules of the particular housing authority. I'm sure they'll answer your questions if you call them.

Some housing authorities make you wait 5 years from the conviction date. Each state is different. Like Excon said give them a call and ask them what their rules are regarding felons.

First not sure where you are at, here there is about a 2 year waiting list to even get into the program.

But in most they will require a 2 to 10 year period from the last punishment of that crime, Many will not consider it if this was a drug charge.
But most are operated by local city and/or state governments, so you will have to check with the local program you are dealing with

I work for a housing authority. You should apply. Even if you are denied at first. You can file for a grievance if you are denied. Any way there is such a long waiting list for housing, you should apply right now! You have nothing to loose.

    Hello K:

Expungment doesn't remove your records. It only hides them. GOVERNMENT, however, has access to them... So, your advice ain't going to help here.

Seal them. It's A LOT easier && cheaper. No one gives a crap if government can see it a lot of people need the bs off for a job then don't care about people that sit on there fat asses all day that can see it. Who the hell are they to judge!

    Hello again, K:

Sorry. There ain't no such thing as "sealing" criminal records... If you want to give advice here on the legal boards, make sure it's correct, or get ready to defend it.

Acually sealing a damn record is so that an employer can no longer tell if you have a record thanks!

    Hello again, K:

Oh, I know WHY you want to seal the records. I'm just saying that it can't be done.

Actually you are incorrect - please only post on the legal boards if you know what you are talking about and can back it up.

And for the record - I work in "the system" and do background checks.

I realize you are angry because your past record appears to be keeping you out of nursing school but it appears you don't have the temperament for the job in the first place.
