USB device malfunction on IBM Tt42
Hi,
I have a Nokia 6300 which I have been connecting via USB cable to my IBM T42 for upload of music etc. I have noticed that the PC would keep on saying that it found new hardware. The last time I connected the phone it did the same and kept on finding new hardware repeatedly. In the mean while I had access to the phone and had no problems in uploading music back and forth. But even when I unplugged the phone and the USB cable it kept on saying that it found new hardware again and again until the PC was shut down. After that I have not been able to connect to any USB devices to the laptop. I have checked that the USB devices functions on other PC's. I have tried to update the Intel chipset, Un-install the USB controllers from the device manager and reinstall by re-boot, tried to update drivers for the USB controllers (which I could not as these apparently were the latest) but nothing helps. The USB drivers are (noted form the device manager ) are
-Intel(R) 82901DB/DBM USB 2.0-advances hostcontroler - 24CD
-Intel(R) 82901DB/DBM USB 2.0-Universal Host Controller - 24C2
-Intel(R) 82901DB/DBM USB 2.0-Universal Host Controller - 24C4
-Intel(R) 82901DB/DBM USB 2.0-Universal Host Controller - 24C7
Can someone help me get my USB function again? It will be very much appreciated as I have data and pictures etc. I need to backup on a USB hard drive ASAP. Since I have noticed the issue with the USB I have also noticed that the Harddisk comes with loud sounds sometimes and is quite at other times.
Please help. Thanks in advance!
