Can I apply for EAD on L2 Visa whilst on a sabbatical?
    Hi,

I am currently on a one year sabbatical from work (job back in India). I have joined my husband (who has a L1) in US on a L2 visa.
1- Can I apply for a EAD here in US whilst being on a sabbatical?
2- Is it illegal to apply for EAD whilst being employed?
3- Is it possible that my Indian company provide me EAD to work on US projects? For this, would I need to resign there and rejoin the US based centre.

Anyone who has similar experience as this, please provide inputs.

    Thanks in advance,
    Suma

L-2 is for dependent of L-1, so as long as the L-1 is still working, you can apply for L-2. Nothing to do with absence from your work.

+1. the L-2 EAD is independent of any US or foreign employer/petitioner. File the I-765 early, it takes 90 days for issuance. You can work for anyone, including your current employer. Good luck! :)

    Hi,
I am planning to apply L2 while still having employment out of United States. Like, I will take 1 month leave from my current company in India. Will go to United States as dependent on my wife's L1. Then from US I will apply for work permit. By the time result of work permit arrives ( 8 - 10 weeks) I will work with Indian company. Is this case feasible ?
    Please advise.
