H1-B short term no idea of tax, company deducting all 3 taxes
Hi,
I am sure everyone on this forum is busy, however if some one can guide me of would be great help.
I am on H1-B but for a short term and on salary.
My US stays is 14Dec 2008 till 28Feb 2009.
My employer has been deducting federal tax, social security tax and medicare tax for the month of Dec, Jan and would do the same for Feb in the ratio of abouot 20% of the gross salary.
However I am not getting any info about what I really need to pay, are they deducting tax in excess and also they are not giving a proper resposne to my queries.
I browsed myself on the web and got more confused with Non resident alien, substantial presensce test, sailing permit.
Can you experts guide me what I need to do, what all taxes I need to pay or need not pay.
Thanks in Advance
Siddharth
