Hi I just want some advice. I had unprotected sex, thought I was being careful, but now I'm not sure. In dec. I had oral surgery, was sick with a really bad migraine over Christmas, then had horrible pain in my arm/shoulder for about three weeks, my period came a week early, a day after my surgery. I did go right back to work the very next day after my surgery. Was on a couple of different medications for the surgery and shoulder pain. In jan. missed my period. Had unprotected sex twice after my last period. Pretty sure it wasn't around ovulation. Also, I did lose weight in the last couple of months. Did a home pregnancy test twice, both came out negative. But I know I could still be pregnant. Coming up upon my second missed period. I'm scared. Does it sound like something other than being pregnant? Maybe stess?

I don't know, that doesn't sound careful to me. Have you taken a pregnancy test since you last had sex?

You'll have to wait it out. Don't have unprotected sex if you don't want to get pregnant... you probably weren't pregnant before since you had your period.

Weight loss may be unrelated.

It is possible that your period is just off because of the surgery, meds during and after surgery and stress, but, any time you have sex pregnancy is possible, so yes, it is a possibility.

If you're really concerned that it could be something else then see your doctor, tell him/her your symptoms and rule out other possibilites.

As for the pregnancy tests, it could just be too early to detect, some women don't get a positive until their second missed period, so you should take another test if you miss the next period, or, once again, go to your doctor for a blood test.
