    New toilet in basement
    Hi
I'm planning to install a toilet in the basement.
I have digged the basement floor and here is how the piping looks like inside the floor ( please see image ).

The image shows the location of the new toilet and the proposed venting.
To my surprise the pipes do not go very deep underneath the basement floor,
So they are "almost" horizontally with the default slope of 1/4 inch per foot.

Would my proposed installation work ( please see attachement ). I'm concerned that the toilet would not have a lot of vertical run.
If something is not clear in the drawing please ask me.

    Thanks.

    Hi Altadata:

From what I can see all is fine EXCEPT that the 1.5" vent for the toilet should be increased to a 2" vent.

All pipes 3" and smaller require 1/4" per foot of pipe.. so you are dead on with 1/4" as posted.

Where is the sink in this pipe job? How are you VENTING the sink? Let me know. You may be able to use the sink vent as a WET VENT for the toilet... but I will need as much info. As you can get me.

    MARK

The problem is that the pipe that I'm using for venting ( coming through the floors into the basement ) is a 1.5" pipe.
Is it ok to still have a 2" venting pipe for the toilet even if eventually, at the top, this 2" pipe will connect into a 1.5" pipe?

Regarding other fixtures, yes there is a sink, a bath and a trap for the washing machine, all being fed at the top using this 1.5" venting pipe.

    Thanks.
