Ask Me Help Desk - Clogged bathroom sink

I have a clogged bathroom sink drain, actually two bathroom sink drains. The two sinks are opposite each other through a common wall. These two sinks are clogged and the shower and another sink upstream are not clogged so it is not in the common line they all feed into. I have snaked the sinks and the snake comes up and out the other sink. I have cleared out the line between them and filled it with enzyme cleaner, no go. I have cleaned out the line between them and filled it with Drano Max and no go. Plunging did not work, and yes I did plug up all of the sink overflows and drain on the other sink to make sure I had the best pressure seal but the vent stack prevents a seal. There is obviously a tee where the common sink drain lines connect and go down to the common drain line. Is there any way to “guide” a snake (or something) to get it to go down the tee? Or other suggestions?

Your clog sounds like it's in the line in the wall. The solution would be to remove the "J" bend from the trap and send a snake up into the wall, (see image) You will run into a bend about 8 inches in. Work your way around it and put out about six more feet of snake. Afterward flush the drain with hot water. Hopethis helps and thank you for rating my answer. Tom

Tell me did you remove the trap and snake the lateral line in the wall? If so you should have told me that you did.
If the clog's beyond that then you can put a swivel auger tip (see image)on your snake and take your chances that it will go down the vent stack but to be absolutely sure snake the drain from the lavatory roof vent. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 16 feet more. There! Will that be all? Tom
