I recently lost my father and all I want to do is be with him. I still have my mom and brothers but I have so much financial stress and sadness in my life that that's all I have been able to think about is how much better life would be if I was not here anymore. The only thing keeping me from waking up day after day is my mom and 2 dogs who need me. Everyone else around me is happy with their significant others and family and I feel so out of place. I am not afraid of death any longer because I know I will see my dad. Does anyone else have these thoughts or feelings?

Your father sure would not want to see you until you have peaked. I'm sure it would be tough on your Family as well. Most people have it worse than they lead to believe.

Yes and to be a little hard, how do you know you will see him in the afterlife if you kill yourself.

Life has its ups and down,s if you are having a down, you need to work on it.

Do you love your father? How do you think he would say to you if he heard you saying this? What would he say if you tell him you want to die?

I know that he would feel very upset, raising you up to be the person you are today, just so you could give up. I believe that any problem is temporary.


Think of your family. Your mom, dogs, and what your dad would say. I believe life's problems and challenges are just tests to see how strong you are.

Be strong! (And no, you are not out of place, everybody feels like giving up on life once in a while)

Thank you very much for your response. Its weird, my dad loves NASA and astronauts and I found it eery to see the pic of your profile. That is something that he would say and I was always told to be "strong" Thank you again

If you are truly feeling this way, all I can say is... dont even think about it. You are more important to a lot more people than you could ever realize. Your father has gone to a better place. He now looks down on you in hopes of seeing you happy in life. Now its up to you to lift your head and say, I'm going to make you proud dad. And while you do this, you will also be making the family and friends that are still with you happy. Killing yourself would not only deface your fathers name, but it would also hurt all others that love you. We all go through hard times, but the beauty of it is that we also have the power to makes most days good. You are grieving right now, and you should be, but don't let it get you to the point were you think you would be better off dead. Live, and know that you are strong enough to take on anything this crazy world may throw your way. I promise you will have better days. One step at a time, you will be fine. And someday you will look back on these feelings and thank god you didn't act on them.

I lost my brother 21 years ago today with cancer he was 25 I was 26 .I too felt like you we were very close,but I can assure you that you will come through this you don't think you can at the time and it will be hard but 1 step forward and 2 back. I have 3 great kids .1 married and a new grandchild.cancer has filled my life since I lost my brother there have been 5 more all ages under 40 .but life is still good so start looking out and not in and enjoy what the world has to offer its not your time yet to go.

Some people are better at putting up a front than others. When my grandad died I missed him so much that I thought I was the only one who really cared for him because I cried A lot! Until I saw my dad crying on his own in his room - people deal in different ways so don't assume everyone else is OK they probably just hide it better, live the best life you can to honour your dad, hope you feel better soon
