Copies of past returns are available through submitting IRS form 4506 and $57.00 fee. If you had your return professionally prepared or e-filed compare the cost of obtaining a copy from them to the cost of obtaining a copy from the IRS.

Blank requests , like most IRS forms, can be downloaded from the IRS.gov web site (in PDF format - use with Adobe's free reader application) or order hard copies from 1-800-829-1040. You may be able to obtain photocopies of IRS forms at some local libraries.
