    Ford F250 Map Sensor
I own a 1995 F250 with a 5.8 Liter V8. The check engine light is coming on intermittently. I performed a self test to read the memory codes and am getting a 72. I believe this is related to the map sensor. The truck runs fine and all gauges are normal. My question is do the map sensors go bad often? Shouldn't the engine run poorly if it is bad. Should my fuel milage be affected? Are the map sensors difficult to change?

In 95, trouble codes are 3-digit codes. A 172 code is a lean oxygen sensor code. MAF/MAP codes are 174, 178, and 128. MAP sensors are very easy to change. They do go out sometimes. When they do, you should get hesitation on acceleration. Check the vacuum line for leaks.

But I think you should recheck and get us the right 3-digit code.
