Spouse working in different state while married filing jointly
    Hi,

My income is in NY and my wife's income is from Massachusetts. Can I file the Federal return as "Married filing Joint" and state return of NY and MA as married filing separate ?

We have 2 houses one in NY and other in MA, and I travel to MA on weekends.. Can I claim myself as resident of MA, working in NY, in case I am filing jointly?

    Regards,

If you are filing federal return jointly, you must file state returns jointly.
On NY return, you are resident or part year resident and report only your income. Your wife in nonresident and does not have any NY income.
    Use same approach for MA.
