What's wrong with my throat? Smoking aftermath?
    Hello,

I stopped smoking about 18 days ago. When I used to smoke, every morning I would cough up a bit of mucous, brown/yellow/greenish stuff, there would rarely be a lot to cough.

But since I stopped smoking, I cough up a lot every morning and it's really annoying, because I wake up with a crappy taste in my mouth, all dried up and I can feel the mucous just waiting to get out and it's so iritating.

This might sound silly but : could this be all the toxics or whatever coming out of my body, because I let them by stopping smoking?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    -Xm8

    Hi, XM8!

Congratulations for going that long without smoking! Way to go!

My guess is that your body is going through the withdrawl symptoms and that your body is trying to heal itself because you've now given it a chance to do that. Best thing to do to make sure, is to see a doctor though since no one here can diagnose you.

What is quoted below is from the following site. Withdrawal Effects Of Giving Up Smoking

    Quote:

Your body will get used to the increased oxygen within the span of two or three days and the dizziness will go. Dry throat and the expulsion of mucus are two of the main signs of withdrawal. You may be worried at the rate of mucus outflow but this is hardly a dangerous thing. This is actually a proof of the system mending itself.
There's much more information available on that site.

Here is the link to the Google search that I did.

Aftermath of Quitting Smoking - Google Search

I wish and hope only the best for you, and that you continue to make progress in quitting!

    Thanks!

Thanks and you're welcome, XM8! I do know how difficult it can be!

You'll make it! Just don't lose site of the goal!

If I recall correctly, there are a number of others on this site, who have also quit smoking. Hopefully, some of them will also notice your thread.

    Thanks!
