Maytage Neptune model #MDG3000AWW gas dryer does not heat the air
My Maytag Neptune gas dryer model # MDG3000AWW runs fine but is not heating the air. With the front cover removed and the vent disconnected, when turned on the igniter turns bright orange for 30 seconds and turns off. This repeats every two or three minutes. It seams like the gas valve is not turning on. There is a coil on top of the valve. Could this be the problem?

Yes it could be the problem but you will have to test it or have it tested to be sure.

Thanks for the information. It was not the coils on the gas valve. It was the burner itself. It literally disintergrated right where the flame would ignite. The machine is ten years old but someone is not making good steel anymore!

I have a Maytag Neptune Dryer Model #MDG3000AWW. The gas will ot come on. A week ago I thought it was the High Temp Limit Thermostat because the Elect. Igniter would come on, Gas valve would open getting a flame. The trouble is that it would only stay on a short time (about 10Sec.) and shut off. Approx. 2 min. later the same thing so I removed the High Limit Thermostat and left it connected laying it on the floor. The dryer then would allow the Elect. Igniter to come on, the gas valve would open up but when it lit, it would not shut off. So I purchased a new high Limit Thermostat MFG#3033950. Approx. a week later, I installed it and now the only thing it will do is the Elect. Igniter comes on but does not open the valve. Here’s the kicker, when I now reinstall the old or new high limit Thermostat nothing happens except the Elect. Igniter comes on and as time goes on, comes on again but my gas valve will not open. Took resistance reading on coils on valve and OK. Took voltage readings on the connectors and it appears OK but didn’t take readings with the dial in all positions. I have tried leaving out on the floor both high limit thermostats (Leaving them connected) and same thing, gas valve does not open. Checked the exhaust to be sure it’s clear for venting and it's OK
