    Mold from a leaK?
I have recently had a leaky shower faucet which we were able to repair quickly with the help of this forum! Thanks Speedball1

We had a lot of water leak down the back of the shower, soak the insulation and eventually drip across the beam until it came out through the ceiling fan.

The leak was there for quite some time but because there was usually only one person a day using that shower it did not come through the ceiling. The day it leaked, we had 4 people take back to back showers.

Given the fact that the leak took so long to show, do we need to worry about mold, or is this something that can dry out, use Kilz on the sheet rock and move on?

I don't want to spend money where I don't need to, but I am not opposed to spending it if there is any chance that this will cause mold issues. It is summer and humid here in August.

The shower stall is located in a large cape, dead center of the house. The leak traveled from the center of the house and came down a ceiling fan 20 ft to the right of the leak.

Should I ask this on a home improvement forum?

Spray anywhere you can with a house bleach water. Spray inside the walls as well as any exposed areas. Without moisture any mold not killed will become dormant
