Water Pressure Test for New Drain Pipe
    Pressure water test

I am instaling the drain pipe for a new sink, I have the pass a city inspection wich requiere a water pressure test. I understand that I need a 5 feet pipe over ground. But I need more to do it. Could any one give me more detail?

Welcome to the site! As far as your question goes, I don't know the answer but I saw this was posted under introductions. You may want to post this under the plumbing category.

    Hi, mynirio!

Greetings and WELCOME to the site! I just moved your question that you had posted in Introductions to this forum topic area so that it will get the most exposure to those who are best able to answer it. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions there.

It can be a little confusing when first learning how to use this site! Your question will get noticed much more in this forum topic area.

We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little about yourself though, if you would be willing to do that.

    Thanks!

In my area it is required to gravity test new drains/vents. To test it: Cap off new drain. Vent should be at least 10' tall for the purpose of test. Fill it up with water.

    Marino...

In order to test this drain line you should need to purchase a JIM CAP WITH A DRAIN IN IT (see 1st picture... so you can drain pipes AFTER test) or you will need to install a TEST TEE (or dandy clean out (same thing)) at the base where you began the new piping and thread in a cherne clean seal plug (3rd and 4th picture).

Then you will want to cap the kitchen drain pipe with a jim cap (5th pic.) and filll the vent line with water to a 10 foot head of pressure... not 5 foot.

All of this is available at a local plumbing supply house.

That's how we do it here... :)

Let me know if you need more info...
