Occasional loss of vision in my left eye
Im a 26 yr old male and for about 4 or 5 yrs I have had times were I lose my vision in my left eye. Its very random and only last from 1 minute to 10 minutes & its always my left eye. Ive been to the eye doctor many times, every time they say my vision is perfect. Ive had MRI"s, they find nothing. Only thing I've been told is that I could be a certain type of migraine. When the blindness happens I have never had a headace before or after the lose of vision. I just feel disoriented a little but I thinks from only being able to see out of one eye. If anyone has had this problem or heard of it please give me your input.

Have you seen a neurologist? If not, it may be time to do so. A neurologist will rule out migraines, MS, and/or possible stroke.

I do not believe you have anything more than a migraine, but when dealing with the opitc nerve and the optic area of the brain (this kind of migraine) it is time to check with a neurologist.

Iv'e been to a to see two different neurologist. They both sent me through the same test. The second one is the one who mentioned the migraine, but I just wasn't convinced, he knew how bad I wanted an explantion for what was happening, so I feel he just told me that to ease my mind.

Do you ever have a "stabbing" pain right when this occurs?

No pain. Maybe a little numbness if anything.

This is very curious to say the least. I am wondering if this happens at a certain time of the day or during certain activities.

Did the neurologist ask you to keep a diary of anything you put in your mouth and then correspond it to when this occurs?

This is an option, it is tedious, but can rule out some things.

I have noticed a few times when it happened I was in a strain or with my hands above my head. And I do have a lot of neck tension pain but never at the same time as the loss of vision.

I have something similar! I am 22 and I have migraines. But I also have TONS of floaters that impair my vision. They glide over my eyes and make everything look wiggly like I'm underwater, or they clump up and cause a big dark grey blob floating across my eye. Also randomly I see a spot in the middle of my vision that lasts for up to about 10 minutes usually... a lot like the type of spot you see if you after someone flashes a camera in your face. Sometimes I also see very quick squiggles of neon orange/blue dash across my field of vision. Also, if I look at a plain white or light colored surface, I see nothing but squiggly things in neon orange... they move a lot like bacteria under a microscope do. I really see them 24/7 but its really only noticeable for me when I'm looking at a plain colored surface like white walls or the sky.

I've gone to have an eye exam when I got my new glasses and asked about this but they said "ocular migraine." I do not believe it. It scares me a lot. But I cannot afford to get any more tests done or pay for meds right now. (no insurance until I'm married in november).

any input for me would be nice. I might make this a new topic. :)

Hey I'm 15 and I have had the squiggly problem seeing a shiny moving column or dots and squiggles which move is normal. This is called an ENTOPTIC phenomenon. Like when you look at a plain light colored background you see moving dots and squiggles. I don't know next time you go to the doctor ask them about it

I have the same problem, and it's always my left eye. Only before I lose my vision I get this pressure that builds over about 10 -15 seconds with a few seconds of pain at the peak of the pressure and then the pressure stops but I go totally blind in my eye. I have been to 3 different neurologists, and an ophthalmologist, and nobody can give me an answer to why it is happening.
