Do notaries file with the court
I have piece of paper that says me and my huband are common law and was notarized. But unfortunitly Ive misplaced both copies, I was wondering if the notary keeps a copy for themselves and or if they file with the court system. Or do they give all copies to us and we are the only ones that have them.

    Hello n:

I don't think notaries keep copies, nor do I think they file them. ALL a notary does is verify that the signatures on a document are real.

IF you're married via common law, then you are. It doesn't take a piece of paper to make it so.
