My Hamster Has a Bump/scab (What I think it it) And the hair around it is kind of moving away or coming off. She is about Half a Year old I Got Her in Around June 2008.

Im Worried If it is something that will harm her, I just noticed it about 2 nights ago. It has been there before but I never looked a it, I just petted it to see what it was. If I try to touch it or feel it for too long she will nibble on my finer gently. I Don`t know if she's saying `Let Go of me! `or just smells something on me.

When I got my hamster my parents told me that we are NOT taking her to the vet EVER because it will cost too much.

I Am thinking if it is a scab it would be from her tube because there is a little sharp edge in the entrance.

This is my first hamster and Latley She has been sleeping more than normal. My Parents say that its just because of her age but in the morining she wakes up at around 7:50 AM in the weekdays to get fed.


My parents Also Say that She will be Perfectly fine but I do not know because this is my 1st hamster and the only other pet I have had was a dog and a fish (and a Tamagotchi :D)


There Are some Sharp Edges in her cage and I Am Thinking that Maybe she bumped her Back on it.



The scab/bump is under her right ear, I haven't been able to geta good look at it for more than a couple seconds because she will squirm or move after I move a bit of hair away from it to peek at it.

Please Help I Don`t Know What To Do And I can't Bring her To a Vet.

If your parents won't take her to a vet then there's little you can do but make sure she's not suffering.

It could be that she injured herself, it could be something worse, I really can't say without having a look at your hamster.

Hamsters are fickle little animals, they can get sick at the drop of a hat and often there's not much anyone can do.

Make sure that her cage is kept clean, if this is a cut then it could get infected with a messy cage. Don't handle her too often, it's obviously causing her discomfort, that's why she's nibbling you, because it hurts.

I wish there was more I could offer, but without the vet option you'll really have to play it by ear.

Maybe remind your parents that when they agreed to a living animal they also agreed to give her the best care they could. By not taking her to a vet they aren't living up to their end of the bargain. This is a living, breathing, feeling creature, just because she's small doesn't mean she doesn't count.

I Know Its not very good but it took at least 10 minutes to hold her still for 2 seconds and take good picture

Looks like a scratch to me, but I'm not a vet.

Just keep her and the cage clean so it doesn't get infected.

If you notice a dramatic change in hammy's behavior and or sleeping and eating habits, then please find a way to get her to the vet.

My hamster had the same problem just give them baths daily and lean age daily also
