I just purchased a couple of Oatey Closet Flange Spacers to install over a toilet flange. The old flange is too low after installing a new floor and will require two 1/2" spacers. How do you install these? There are no gaskets so how do I seal between each of the spacers and the old flange. Thanks.

Since spacers do not have a foam backing you will need to be sure to clean the old flange real well. Here, clean all wax off and then take a rubbing alcohol and clean the old flange down to the metal.

Remove screws from old flange if planning to screw new flanges through the holes of the old flange.

Then take an adhesive caulking and spread a good thick bead around the old flange and set the new flange... repeat for next flange and then screw the flanges down through the old flange and connect to floor. LET THIS DRY 24 HOURS BEFORE SETTING/FLUSHING NEW TOILET!!!!

You will also need long closet bolts. These bolts will be best to be installed into the old closet flange or at least through the spacers BEFORE the spacers are secured.

The wax gasket with the long closet bolts comes as a kit.

It makes a lot of sense. Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I guess the wax gasket that goes on the bottom of the toilet just seals against the flange spacer.
