Hello I'm a single father that is currently unempolyed. I have terrible credit and owe about 18000 dollars... none of it by the way are student loans... I went to h&r block and filed my taxes... will I receive my tax return... or will my debt get taken?

Not likely. The debt collectors CAN get a garnishment order on your tax refund, but it is a long and expensive process, and the amount of money recovered in this process is limited because the taxpayer will adjust his/her withholdings to PAY taxes come April 15th rather than get a refund.

For these reasons, most debt collectors do not bother.
