I have a Fiat laundry tub that has a 2" opening and all the plugs I can find to connect the sink to the trap drain assembly are only 2 1/8" wide. This seems like it would offer little support and possibly fall through over time. Do you have any suggested products that might work ? This is a temporary laundry sink so I am looking for an affordable option.

Where do you live and are the pipes labeled 2 1/8"?

Any Fiat laundry tub I have installed had a regular 1.5" threaded strainer molded directly into the tub (see picture).

This strainer would measure as you say, about 2.125" or so.

Here, you should be able to put some pipe dope on the threads of the molded strainer and screw on an 1.5" PVC female adapter (see other picture) and then pipe direct to PVC ptrap.
