Can a Verizon wireless router be used with another ISP?
    Hi,

I have a Westell Versalink model 327w wireless router I got through Verizon a while back when I was going get the internet set up at my wife's buiness. We never ended up getting the internet hooked up for one reason or another & dropped Verizon as the carrier.

I now have DSL service through a local provider (not Verizon) in my home with a hard-wired single DSL modem.
My question is, can I utilize this wireless router in my home even though I do not have Verizon for an internet provider? I've never set up one of these before, so I was not sure. I'd like to use it so I can get the Wii on-line for my son. Any info would be appreciated.

    Likely yes.

You'll have to transfer the parameters to the Versalink modem. Especially the VC? Ones and the PPPOE settings. Keep the old modem nearby, in case your new ISP wants to do troubleshooting. In other words make it easy to swap.

The way I have my router hooked up, it's difficult to look at the setup pages.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer. Like I said, I've never set one of these up & I had no idea if it were possible or not. I was hoping I could use the router as the thing has been sitting in my closet for a year now... Sounds like there's a good chance I can. Thanks again!
