First time on this forum so your patience is requested. I have a deep well, about 215 feet with a pressure tank in my basement. For the past several weeks the pressure cycles on and off ever two or three seconds. I have tried to re-pressurize the tank and it is a bit helpful but still only a few more seconds apart. The pump and tank are about ten years old and have worked perfectly until now. Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated. David

Check to see if the pressure stays up on the well line and the well line itself is not losing pressure because of a leaking check valve.
Re check Tank to see if its flooded.
Bang on bottom of tank keep banging to the top. It should sound hollow half way up if its at full set pressure. The tank should be good if not then a flooded tank and the tank bladder is bad and needs replaced
What the pressure is for the kick in of pump switch is set at the tank needs to be set at 2lbs less then that. Same as when its full pressure tank 2lbs less then the switch shutoff. Check this balance. If not balance th pump will quick cycle or if a check valve is leaking that also will cause this kick in problem

Blackjack (clever handle!), you probably have a waterlogged tank. Do the following:

1. Does your pressure hold when the pump is not on? If so, then the checkvalve is OK.

2. Turn on a faucet and watch the pressure valve. If it is moving rapidly (just a few seconds) the fifteen or twenty pounds from cuton to cutoff, then you have a waterlogged tank. You can do a short-term fix by draining the tank (system off and faucet on until pressure is bled off) and then pressurizing the tank to 2# below the cuton pressure. This will last for several weeks and cure the shortcycling for that length of time. Long term... replace the tank.
